Special Juries: prisons, detention centres and psychiatric wards

The Special Juries provide a new and unique window into documentary cinema and human rights for their residents.

The FIFDH is offering an extraordinary opportunity for minors in the detention centre of La Clairière, adolescents from the HUG Day Hospital psychiatric ward, and adults from the Brenaz prison, to be part of a FIFDH jury and award an official prize.

In each institution, over a period of 5 weeks, 3 swiss films will be presented, accompanied by conferences and encounters with the actors and film crews.

Individuals who have been judged by society become judges themselves: they reverse the gaze, open a place of exchange, and regain confidence in their critical abilities. Join us at the official closing ceremony of the FIFDH for the winners’ announcement!

JURY DU CENTRE DE DÉTENTION ET D’OBSERVATION POUR MINEURS DE LA CLAIRIÈRE award

Tacacho by Felipe Monroy

"We, Jury of La Clairière, bestow the award for Best Film to Felipe Monroy’s Tacacho. We were deeply affected by the personal story which Felipe shared with us, because it allowed us to realize, by way of both his testimony and that of the film’s protagonists, the harsh reality experienced by too many Colombians.
We were greatly moved by the courage shown of the protagonists to tell their stories in front of the camera. Thank you, Felipe, for this film."

JURY DE LA BRENAZ award

Jean Ziegler, l’optimisme de la volonté by Nicolas Wadimoff

"We have discovered the personal portrait of a man of unwavering commitment to his convictions, his struggles and his courage. We were particularly touched by the strength and love that unite Jean Ziegler and his wife Erika Dauber, as represented through images. We warmly thank Jean Ziegler and Erika Dauber for coming to talk with us during our meeting in the prison. It was an honor, thank you."
