A Welcoming Event from refugees in geneva
In collaboration with l’Hospice Général
Free entry
Three collective centres for migrants (Presinge, Saconnex, Tattes) are opening their doors for a series of welcoming events. On the agenda: film screenings, concerts, buffets and discussions with FIFDH guests, residents of the centres and the public. These events help to make these centres into active spaces of engagement with local life and encourage interaction and exchange. Come and join us!
In Presinge, the residents will offer to cook an Eritrean meal, starting from 2pm, to be served at the end of the evening projection, followed by a guided tour of the Abbey centre at 6:15pm. The 70 residents represent almost 10% of the population of this municipality and the local authorities speak of a rewarding community life. In Saconnex, a large buffet prepared by the residents will follow a family screening on Wednesday afternoon, children are welcome! Moreover, some Kurdish resident will do a concert. In Les Tattes, the main reception centre in Geneva, an aperitif will be organised in collaboration with the association Agora and will take place in the courtyard prior to a screening and a concert with several hundred people.
Transport to festival venues will also be organised for people seeking asylum currently living in the surrounding centres (Anières, Appia, Lagnon, Feuillasse, Praille-Gavard, Frank-Thomas, Etoile etc.) as well as for visitors of the La Roseraie reception centre and the residents of the PC shelters.
