FIFDH BEYOND THE WALLS
The Geneva region is a mosaic of cultures that we love to explore. This year the Festival program takes place in 37 venues including the Velodrome, community centers, event halls, museums, hospitals, galleries, cafés, at CERN and in asylum centers for refugees.
Join us for films, debates, surprising encounters....
With the support of our partners, all sessions are free and open to the public!
MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES WELCOME YOU
The four main centers for migrants in the Canton of Geneva (Anières, the Tattes, Feuillasse and Saconnex), open their doors to the FIFDH public. Join us for a film and debate with the guests of the Festival before tasting a buffet of local cheeses, couscous and injera ... what better way to get to know each other? The residents of the shelters are also invited to attend the Festival in Versoix, Bernex and Vernier.
HUMAN RIGHTS ALSO APPLY TO WOMEN!
... This is why women’s rights are central to the discussion at several events, in collaboration with the Créatives of Onex, Bernex Women Farmers Association and the municipality of Gaillard.
WE ALL HAVE OUR DIFFERENCES
There are no handicaps, only differences. The visually impaired also have their places reserved at the movie theater – next to you! A public session with audio descriptions and subtitles of the hearing impaired will be offered in Chêne-Bourg. Other events will be offered in the Belle Idée Clinic and Hospital Beau Séjour – join us for these exciting sessions and share your opinion!
ON YOUR MARKS!
Sport and film are extraordinary means to change our perception of the world. The compelling series Les Rebelles du foot - Saison 2 will be presented at the Velodrome in Geneva, as well as in Lignon in the presence of the Palestinian football player, Taljieh Honey. Nice people, a touching and comedic documentary about Somali refugees who form an ice hockey team in Sweden, will also be screened at multiple Festival venues.
SCIENCE, ENVIRONMENT AND CITIZENSHIP
We will also make a stop at CERN, the cradle of the world wide web, to talk about the internet and its excesses with the film Deep Web. The climate will be the news topic under fire with the film, This Changes Everything, based on the book by Naomi Klein, in Carouge and Meyrin. In addition, we will discuss peace in Israel and Palestine with the association "Combatants for Peace" in Lancy. Finally, State Councilor Antonio Hodgers will be present for a discussion with pupils on the timeless topic of civic engagement, to be held in Meyrin and at the Grütli!
NEXT STOP : LAUSANNE
This year we are launching a partnership with the Swiss Cinematheque, where will screen the film The Last day of Yitzhak Rabin by Amos Gita, the day after its Premiere in Geneva, in the presence of the director. In addition, Amnesty International will present the film Sonita following the Festival!
