INTERNET SECURITY: JOURNALISTS AND NGO’S

Workshop on Anonymous Communications, Data Security and Protection of Sources for Journalists & NGOs
In partnership between the FIFDH, Reporters Without Borders (RSF), the Geneva Press Club, Telecomix and the Chaos Computer Club

The objective of this workshop is to help journalists and NGOs understand and familiarize themselves with the risks posed by new information technologies and means of communication.
Wednesday March 4 from 1:30pm to 5:30pm in English (theoretical part): Journalists and NGOs : What is the correct behavior regarding information security and protection of sources and other sensitive data? How do you minimize risk for your sources and contacts ? How do you prepare for a trip abroad, or when traveling in sensitive areas? How can governments or private companies track you and what steps can you take to protect yourself?

Thursday March 5th from 8:30am to 5:30pm in English & French (practical skills Workshop/CryptoParty): 7 practical workshops will cover the different uses of information security tools. Throughout the day, the workshops will teach you how to encrypt your data, how to remain anonymous on the internet, how to use a VPN, how to wipe your files & encrypt your emails & data, how to r emove your online history, and how to create safe passwords.

This workshop will be managed by Bernd Fix and Stéphane Koch, in collaboration with other experts in the field who will share with participants, and answer to their questions.
